Is rice water good for the skin?
I can’t emphasize less the benefits of rice water for your skin. just as said earlier in this post that the Japanese and Korean believe in the wonders this natural emollient can do to the skin and hair.
That has made them stick to it for their beautiful skin look. And no doubt about this, it has worked for them and it is still working for them.
Good enough it has gained ground in every part of the world and Nigeria is not left out. Most people have now made this emollient as a source of beauty.
This means that rice water does not go to waste again.
When used on the skin, it can soothe the skin and give the skin a defined skin tone and also improve the skin texture in every way round.
You can always put it in a container and keep it refrigerated so that you will be able to use it more than once.
That is what I have been doing for some time since I knew about the benefit of rice water for the skin.

It does not go sour or have a weird scent and can be used more often when kept in a refrigerator but I wouldn’t suggest you use it for more than seven days.
How to make rice water
Voila! It is quite simple and all you need is:
- Raw rice
I am sure you have all those in the kitchen, I just wanted to use that as a reminder. Put your raw rice in the pot, add some water to it( Let the water be a bit plenty so that you can have enough rice water that will last you a week or two), light your burner, and place your pot on it.
Don’t add salt or any other ingredient to it then let it boil for 20-25 minutes depending on how fast your burner is. The next thing is to extract the water from the rice. Put it in a container, and let it cool before you use it.
You can as well store the remaining in your refrigerator. Rice water is known to have a long lifespan, but I will suggest that you shouldn’t keep it for long. A week is awesome.
I have seen blog posts where they suggest that you keep it for 3 weeks, but I guess it is just better to keep it for a week.
Soaking method: How to make rice water
The majority of people love the second method because it is as easy and fast as people think it is. All you have to do is properly rinse your rice to get rid of insects and specks of dirt if it has any.
Then soak it for 40 minutes. most people will suggest that you soak it for 30 minutes, but I have tried it before, and it is not as good as soaking it for long.
When the rice is well soaked, strain the water and keep it stored in a clean container, and put it in a refrigerator.
As most people claim that this process is the fastest, it doesn’t seem fast to me and it does look stressful to me. I prepare the rice boiling method and I see it easier and faster.
